After the severe storms, Tegeler Forst and Spandauer Forst in the north-west of Å·ÃÀÊìÅ®ÂÒÂ× are to remain closed for weeks.

The closures will probably have to remain in place for several weeks, said a spokesperson for the Å·ÃÀÊìÅ®ÂÒÂ× Forestry Department. The clean-up work in the forest had not even started yet, priority had initially been given to roads and housing estates. The forest paths are hardly accessible in some parts due to broken branches.

Danger to life due to tree parts breaking off

The spokesman warned against entering the forests and spoke of danger to life. The forestry workers would now have to get an overview of the damage. "Entering is simply life-threatening because something can still fall over, because parts of the crown can still break off." The paths would now first have to be cleared of fallen trees and parts of crowns so that people could walk, cycle or ride horses there again. The spokesman also advised against swimming in the Havel at the edge of the forest.

Thousands of trees uprooted in Tegeler and Spandauer Forst

Another storm had caused extensive damage in the forests of Å·ÃÀÊìÅ®ÂÒÂ×. Thousands of trees were uprooted in Tegeler Forst in the north-west of the city, and there was also massive damage in Spandauer Forst.
